After spending over 90mins stuck in a horrendous jam last year, I decided to scout out another location... Not too bad, except that well... wind was still and smoke got in the way!

In launching of Clone Wars toys... Part 2

The following were taken at the concourse area of the shopping mall.... and we sort of "crashed" Dark Knight's party! :)

Good thing Joker wasn't around or maybe we'll be having a war of galactic proportions?

In launching of Clone Wars toys... Part 1

Yours truly has friends that dabble in the art of CosPlay, short for Costume Play. While this term is more apt for Japanese manga/anime, I think anybody who dresses up in a costume as a character from any genre be it fact or fiction or fantasy should fall in this category.

As many are aware, the Star Wars universe just keeps on going like and Energizer bunny! So the latest installament, i.e. Clone Wars is due to arrive in Malaysian shores. But prior to that, there's always them toys. So together with it's launch, my friends decided to put in an appearance. Unfortunately, I wasn't there during the midnight launch, but this was more of the day after...



I wonder what Kungfu Panda must be thinking in the background... IF only he was real!!! :P

This depicts the Declaration of Independance for Malaysia. I wonder if other entrances or "outside" of Malacca there are more of this rock carvings... hmmmm

Malacca - Of Old and New - Part 4

You must be wondering why no photo's of Stadhuy's, Christ Church, A'Formosa up close. Well, I did take them, but I think it's better if you see them for yourself; up close and personal. Other reason was that at A'Formosa, it's turn into a circus(!) with what someone standing in the entrance entralling customers to have a go with his giant monitor lizard. Forget it... I'll take more interesting stuff.

So we crossed the road and headed into this new mall, just opposite of A'Formosa; about 30paces off it, or less. And once you're in, this is what you see. As Darth Vader would say, "Impressive, MOST impressive!"

It's actually in a box shape, in a circular pond with fountains as you can see. And what it depicts, is actually the Malacca history. Close observation and I think it's made of rock. Very well done and pretty cool I must say. Certainly with the theme of Historical city, and complements it's entry into UNESCO's World Heritage Site which it recently got awarded with.

Still at St Paul's church, located right at the top of the hill. A window within a window...

Even this little cat knows how to enjoy a cool shade! :P

It took me a while to try and get this, what with people not realising that I was pointing the camera at the doorway as they came in. But the view; you can spot the galleon at the right... And onwards, towards the horizon. I wonder what it was like back in the 1600's...? To view to setting sun from here...

A viewing tower/observation deck in the distance. Certainly wasn't there 1 year ago...

And sticking to the Old and New theme, the A'Formosa and if one looks towards the the rest, shopping malls at the top left and even to it's right hand corner! In the distance, Holiday Inn Hotel...

Am sure this photo would bring a smile to many! :) Ah... the innocence of childhood!

Malacca, as my colleague from Madagascar exclaimed, has temples, temples and temples; tons of temples in such a small location and just on 2 streets! Below are what caught my eye during my walk along Jonker Street, on it's 2 main roads...


Taken from the back of an ancient fire engine. Times have changed when compared to our modern ones, operated probably by computers and dials, knobs and switches!

Oh oh... anybody can spot what's wrong with this photo? Not so much of the photo per say, but well, the statue...

Yeah, one of his hands is missing; broken of by vandals I guess. Poor St Paul...

Malacca - Of Old and New - Part 1

Now, I've visited Malacca last year, but a lot seems to have changed in just 1 year. Seriously, there's a shopping right, literally right across the street, but more on that later...

I wouldn't really bother posting a pix of the galleon here. Reason? Well, just anybody and everbody would have taken a pix of it and it's hard not to miss. But the point of this anchor? Just how much does it weigh? Imagine trying to pull that in into your ship! Even if it was a few of you, from the bottom of the ocean... speak of really HARD labour!


The last time I was here, I didn't see this. So now, a photo of this water mill(?) But how does it connect to Malacca historically, I cannot fanthom...

Old... old... and damn old! Really brings back memories if my time in my granpa's house. I managed snap this. Wanted to snap a photo of an old GEC fan, unfortunately told that it was a no go. I believe many would not have even seen the old fan, bronze'd and probably heavy as well. And probably slow moving blades if one compares to today's high tech's. Heck, in time, probably fans will die too as everybody starts relying on air-con's!

Now, THIS is something many would not see. Clogs! I still use them in my house. Made of wood. Of course, no elaborate painting. I'll miss the sound of "clak clak" as this too will probably head towards a death as the younger generation see's no use for it, and consider Croc's more cool!
