Star Wars - Identities in Lyon, France!

Oh wow... What have we have here???
Missus saw the advert on a tram... and so, of course, we have to go, riiiiiight???

What's that on Moi's head? :)
The queue which is really sloooooooow to clear as they have this 5 mins briefing which almost nobody listens too or just passes by...
 Ooooh. Check out those buns!

You have these wristlets much like Fitbit which activates certain portions in the exhibition area which makes it more 'interactive'.
So you just hold it close to any of those characters and it activates it along with an audio guide that is given to you much earlier.
But missus and I aren't really interested in the audio thingy. You should have figured that out by now. We are more into props and so here we gooooo...

Does my beanie look familiar to something else? Missus crochet it!

Here is the link that missus took from if you're interested to make it.

Real life? Looks like it...
Mummy, Daddy: I wanna fly it!
 Oooooh... Slave Leia...
 Poor Hans.

 Scary eyes?

As this leans more towards Identities, or rather characters, hence, you have quite a lot of details on how the characters came about.

 Going on lightspeed!
 Missus and her idol.
 Falcon up and away!

 Look at those helmets!

In terms of props, there isn't much. Which is quite disappointing as we both came away from Art Of Star Wars many eons ago much more impressed. As I said earlier, this is more on Identities, hence characters which is supposed to give you a more interactive experience, and a very active experience as well due to the 'Fitbit' wristlet thingy.

So if you have time and would like to see how you would stand in this character Star Wars world, then this is for you.

And if by any chance you are interested to see what AoSW had: see here
(I can't believe my old photo sharing site is still up and running!!!)

Escalade - Sunday Night Parade

Ending the whole Escalade fun is a Sunday Evening Parade that starts at 5pm from Park Bastion and makes its way around the surrounding area before heading into the Old Town. And many of the things that you saw on Saturday, you will see it again here - in the parade. Just not demonstration for you.

Fortunately for us, staying in Champel, it's just a short walk downhill but as I noticed that the parade passed through some streets closer to us, why not wait there (?) and hope not to be sandwiched by the masses.

As luck would have it, yes. Not many were on this street. So, front row photography!

Here we go...
It was pelting rain... as you can see. Poor blokes will be all wet.

 Pied Pipers a-coming...
 Lovely maidens next
 Trumpeters a trumping...
 Horsemen a-riding...

 Drummers a-drumming...

Sorry. This was written in the mood of Christmas!

It's definitely an interesting experience to see this go by and one that we're happy Little One woke up just in time for us to make a mad rush to join in.

The End.

More on Escalade 2014 - Daytime

Now, what's this?
Hmmm... where do I put this???

If you read the earlier post, you would have come across how Genevians celebrate Escalade...
Along with all that seriousness, there is also some other playful side to Escalade. And one of this was is below.
In 1602, the Savoys tried to scale the walls. And so, this ladder best represents that.
Well, we're going to have cannon firing... how cool is that?
 No guns. Just swords...
 And knifes...
Feels like something straight out of the 3 Musketeers, doesn't it?

"What do you think with this crowd?"

I like how straight his feather is... :)
Mummy and Little One getting ready for that cannon to go off...
"Right men, where do you think we should aim?"
Sadly, I took a video of it. So, no piccies of the cannon going off...

Now, what's this?
 Marching band!

 Muskets here!
 "What are you looking at?"

Pipers wanted part of the action too...

Swiss flag flying high as well...

Even the scouts wanted to get into the fun! Imagine putting cream(?) on someone blindly... not a very enjoyable facial session I can guess.
Right, helmets and body armour on display
 Ooooooh. Handculfs, Noose... enough said.
Now, this is how this is use...
 Formations used.

Frescoes ... But not too sure what are they as we came across them after leaving the secret passsageway that is only opened once a year during this celebration...

See what I mean about everyone joining the festivities?
Not too sure what these geese have their role in...
Roads are closed in the old town to allow these gentlemen on horseback to make their visits. It's certainly very reminiscent of the old times...

The End.

Shark Filled Post!

Little One has been nothing short of bewitched over Sharks. And for 2017, his headmistress had a shark costume for his annual recital then....
