Terrabot; Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

Now that yours truly has a baby and had moved in into his own house of his own, cleaning it of course, is a big chore. More so, when mother and baby are actively shedding hair at this particular point in time; circa 3 months +.

It's a hormonal thing. Nothing much one can do about it. Deal with it! :)

ANYway, so it was decided after some discussion, why not get something robotic to assist in clearing up all those shedded hairs PLUS pick up the tons of dust that seems to coat our floors and whatever horizontal surfaces like crazy! Really... no joke.

After looking through Lazada's website, it was decided on this robotic cleaner from TerraBot. It boasts quite a number of features but I'll break it down as I go through the photos.

So what does it look like? As per below, you will see the device itself and it's connected to the charging station.

The rear is where the dust container sits as is evident from the huge black button that you see.
Now, this cleaner says it does mopping. Sadly, mopping isn't what you and I would normally think; i.e. wet / water mop BUT dry mop. So, it's just a piece of cloth stuck onto a Velcro on the bottom of the cleaner which you can also detach of you don't want to use it.

If you have a 1300sqft unit like us, I think this small little cloth is SO not equipped... Flipped side is that when I finally decided to clean the cloth, I found that the dirt came off easily.
This little black device uses 2 D cell batteries and what it does is to create a barrier, aka no go zone. As there is a 5 cm drop height between the whole house and the kitchen floor. This was placed there in order to prevent the cleaner from going into the kitchen and never coming back out!
The dust container after it was removed and used for the very 1st time. You can see the amount of dust+hair which we did not clean after JUST 4 days... Ugh!
The bottom of the container. More finer dust making it past the 1st part of the container but getting trap behind a filter. Thank God!
Some thoughts:
a) It BANGS into things quite a bit. And so, even a leaning foldable chair can collapse due to the amount of force it knocks with!
b) If you have a foldable chair that is opened, not those with 4 legs, but with 2 metal bars as legs, it'll go over them and get caught in the middle.
c) Which means it'll also go over slippers!
d) Mats needed to be removed.
e) It's got a timer and so we have set ours to work while we are away, i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays @ 0900H.
f) It's quite loud. Manual says around 50+DB's...
g) UV lamp - It says its got one, we did use it, but how does one tell it works? I.e. those bugs are killed?
h) It's cleaning method of a large space is done in concentric circles; i.e. it just keeps going round and round and round but in a wider diameter as it makes it's round after round.

Is it worth it? I guess if you can look past the mop and UV lamp, then yes, looking at the amount of dust it has picked up and the time it would save me from cleaning the house.
And as yours truly likes to walk barefoot, I couldn't be happier... except on the $$$ part.

There are more lower cost versions on Lazada's website. But missing some functions... Will it clean as well? Hard to compare.

On His Tummy...

It's now 4 months plus and soon in another week, he'll be 5 months old!

Wow, time has flown really fast and with it, comes a baby's development 'strength' if you can call this as he has now preferred to be on his tummy than lying on his back. And so...

"What's that?"
Along with enjoying his tummy time, another favourite pastime of his is easily sucking his fingers or hands. Or wrist. Or anything else... But I guess it's a precursor to his teeth making his appearance soon.
" Hi There. How you doing???"
 See what I mean?
The poor toy... will probably be covered with drool!
 "What's up, daddy?"
Now, my son is really cheeky in that he reminds of me Calvin in Calvin & Hobbes. Whenever Calvin is asked to be taken in a photo, Calvin would make faces and Andrew, isn't that far off!!!

I was attempting to take a photo of him holding on onto his legs, another developmental sign. Unfortunately, almost every time he see's the camera in my hands... Ah well.

The End.

Spending time in Sandakan 2013...

Prior to the wedding, we as a family flew in on Thursday evening and subsequently, had dinner in Sim Sim.
And on Friday, missus decided it was the best time to have some ME time...
So some Manicure was in order...

No, that isn't her hands but Hot Aunty's...
Just having fun with the NEX F3 + Pentax Adapter + FA100mm lens...

And on Friday night, there was a dinner to attend to. But obviously, someone wasn't too happy about it! :p

Oh you're a cute and handsome one aren't you???

And naturally, where there's a baby, photographers abound!
Here baby baby...

Who says the older generation doesn't know how to play with gadgets? :)
Hot Aunty holding a not so happy baby...
Apparently, this is a Sandakan famous delicacy, called UFO. Just simple plain dough and custard but still yummy!
The End.

Mark and Clare's Wedding 2013

Yours truly plus mummy, baby dearest and hot Aunty Melissa who flew back from India for this occasion had to fly back to Sandakan for a wedding. And it gave me an opportunity to experience how my dear baby boy would handle the cabin pressure.

Well, either he knew he was going for a trip or otherwise, he decided to impart some of himself just as we were about to board the aircraft. I guess he decided to have a little 'one for the road'!
"Son, you're just too young for that!"

Anyway, he decided some 30mins prior to landing, to perform a welcoming gift to Sandakan and Missus and Aunty Melissa got to try changing his nappy in mid air in the lavatory of an aircraft.

Is this his usual bowel movement? Well, no. He was having a bout of sickness during this period. So... Just as well for us. :)

ANYway, enough of this crappy pre-amble and lets get on with the Wedding shall we??? :)

My MIL getting some make up done.
Great Aunty Helen also getting some make up done.
Hot Aunty Melissa or rather SIL. No wonder my baby is so happy...
Andrew with the... groom. Yup. Dear Mark is getting married!
Mummy finally getting her turn on the make up chair.
The theme was Gold. Does he look golden enough?
HE certainly thinks so!
At the Cathedral of St Mary's.
Wow... red carpet pun ade! Lucky them!
Pinning them corsages.
I love you Mummy!
Actually, this is the first time for me to see the Ciborium up close and personal. Basically, for Catholism, it contains the Host or Bread for the communion.
Uncle Patrick getting his corsage.
MIL getting a final check.
The inside of the cathedral.
And when there are flowers and this photographer...
The flower girl.
Whooaaaa there! Blimey. Scottish Kilt!
The decorations for the car. I wonder where it is now? :)
Ring bearer.
Eh? Bride sudah sampai? What happen to the Wedding March? Or Entrance???
But ring bearer still not ready?!
Apparently, both the bride+groom has to go for confession first. Well, it's something very different for us in KL. Bride comes. Stay in the car until the correct time. And then makes her entrance into the church.

Oh oh! Finally Mummy and baby made it out of the car. Well, as it were, dear baby decided he wanted his feed as we arrived. Maybe he knew it was best he slept while the wedding went on ...?
And in this contented state of his, anybody can hold him and he did stay a considerable amount of time with his Great Aunt!
Anxious, Mark?
Priest must be telling Mark to relax... :p
Here comes the bride... here comes the bride...

Ring bearer getting ready for his limelight.
Ring Ceremony.

As Mark's back was towards me, well, I couldn't take his vows. But as Clare was facing me...

We now welcome Mr and Mrs Mark Benedict.
Signing of the Marriage Cert.

And that's it.
Immediate family photo.
My dear son, you can't eat that corsage!
How can you NOT melt with that kind of face?
Mummy with her Godma.
And Welcome.
The procedure here in SDK is certainly very different than in KL. You take your photos 1st before you march out!
Exchanging of a bite...!

Moi, Mummy and baby.
Cousin Joe with Baby Andrew.
All the Ladies...
Baby always enjoying his time with Grandma...
Uncle Patrick with dear Baby...
Dinner was at Borneo Cove Hotel and it was a Garden Wedding Dinner. Yours truly and I think for a majority have never been to a Garden Wedding Dinner for one before and it was certainly very interesting not to mentioned very stressful as you're at the mercy of the whimsical weather Gods in MY!

Overall, an enjoyable event.
So... you've got the pool. Lots of grass and the not so distant sea breeze and some rain somewhere along the way...
Wooot! And a live band+violinist too!
How would you like signing on this canvas?

Hot Aunty Melissa with Uncle Patrick dancing away...

The End.

Shark Filled Post!

Little One has been nothing short of bewitched over Sharks. And for 2017, his headmistress had a shark costume for his annual recital then....
