Port Dickson

In celebration of our 1st year anniversary and also to have a little fun, we visited Port Dickson as a simple holiday. A short one at that.

And one of the places we drop by is a lighthouse, built in the 16th century but of course, updated with today's technology. Light and a fire just doesn't cut it any more. Known locally as Tanjung Tuan or else known as Cape Rochado, it was built back then by the Portugese...

It's a long walk up a paved road and needless to say, for 2 urban brats, we made it, but not without a stop along the way due to a steep incline.
Unlike Nugget's Point lighthouse in NZ which we visited, there is no visitors walkway around it. There is no protection of ANY sort, which is sad. All you have it just this mini 5 foot way and a looooooong drop as you can see. But as with any lighthouse that overlooks the ocean, you get a beautiful view. And obviously missus is  enjoying a breather...

The best view of the lighthouse is obviously from the bottom. So in this case, down a bunch of stairs. I understand that from this lighthouse, there is a trek that allows you to visit the beach on which it guards. We didn't try it for ...well, obvious reasons. :) Plus it was getting late as well.
The gradient looks much more difficult in real life that in this photo...
The entrance. One pays RM1 to gain entrance. Pity that you're not allowed to be up there to view the sunset tho... ah well.
And just off Tanjung Tuan is Pantai Biru. Why the name, I have no idea. But it's beautifully secluded with a nice beach which is clean as well. As for bathing, i'm not too sure, but we spotted 2 sea snakes at the beach. Personally, I guess they decided to come and say hello(?) but ...
If one looks far far out...
We stayed @ Corus Hotel. It looks glamorous over here, with it's Lagoon in the foreground, but if one looks closer, the water looks... scary. The rooms that we stayed in were clean and so was the bathroom. It's seen better days and why can't the management update it's dated furniture and fittings? And no joke about the flies in it's restaurant... Why there are candles to try and ward of the flies... there is just hordes of them!

View of it's lagoon outwards. It's certainly different than other hotels in PD, with it's lagoon, that's for sure.
After hearing all the horror stories of how PD's beach had became dirty through the years, I was pleasantly surprised to find it CLEAN. Yes, clean. No rubbish floating around in Bagan Pinang's beach. AND it's a public beach too! It was low tide and so we walked out... literally.
And was greeted with crabs.
And this little fella decided to greet me...
See, this is how I make myself disappear...
I build it like this...
And this...
Dummm de doo...
See my wall is getting higher?
Tra la la...
Photographer's favourite shot!
Dee dee...
Almost done...
And let me just pat pat here...
Ta daaaaa!
Eh?
Oh bugger...
Well, we were there with our 2 friends as well...
I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to...
Come back! I swear it wasn't me farting... it was the waves...
Fallen comrade or carnivores?
Small snail?
And this is how fare we were from the beach...
And went out even further...
And further...
Small or minute?
Clean right?
Crabs decided to say goodbye to us... or not.
Love the way the waves had form the sand...

The End.
