Of Mosquitoes and How I got fed up! :)

Now, living in Malaysia, has a really big and sometimes painful and itchy problem: Mosquitoes. These buggers can drive one mad... literally, especially when you KNOW that there is just no way you can get a good night's sleep with them buzzing around...

Not too mention the horror of waking up the next morning finding your exposed skin "carpet bombed" with red marks.

So needless to say, I got fed up and decided that enough was enough. I was getting one of these interesting gadgets. Scouring through the web revealed that this particular device actually works and works well.

It's basically a UV lamp ... with a twist. It ALSO spews out CO2. Oh yes, I'm soooooo contributing to the destruction of the ozone layer! But you see, UV just doesn't do the trick enough. Co2, is what them mozzies zoom in for besides your body heat that is done via the UV. By putting both together, you get a replica of a homo sapien and viola(!), them mozzies go after this thing.

So they get attracted, fly in into the whole, get sucked down through a fan and end up below the unit; where the fine wire net is.
And the result. (This is just one side). 3 nights. Go figure... and it's only switched on at night. Yikes comes to mind!!!

Oh yeah, if you're wondering WHY there is the cling wrap, well, I placed it there as it's daylight and no use having it switched on. Them blasted insects know how to hide... but it's there as I'm paranoid that these smart buggers will know how to fly out; via the fly in route even though this device has a so called trap map that disallows them from doing so... So I placed the cling wrap to ensure that NOTHING leaves this until I switch it on again, the next night!

Cost? RM2xx++

Not cheap, but I think it's justifed. Yes? :D

Oslo!

Nope. Not the city but... my colleague's son...

Cute huh?
I wonder whether he knows how to appreciate Starbucks at 14 months? he he
Exploring skills starting already...
The End.

Can you imagine...

This is a photoblog. But unfortunately, some other things got my attention and I just have to mention it out!

A) Poor Customer Service...
IF you work as a CS, be it as a frontliner in a store or via the phone, etc, it is expected of you to know your stuff. Otherwise please, please, PLEASE don't bother working there with the "I couldn't care less attitude!".
Case in point: Yours truly was in a popular shopping mall in Sunway and entered a well known Electrical store. Now, yours truly's brother was shopping for a new notebook. So I followed him into the store and the assistants just left us alone. Not such a bad problem really as I'm one of those who prefer to browse quietly and not have you snapping at my heels! ANYway, my brother had spotted the notebook that he was interested was and seeing as a brochure was next to the equipment, he proceeded to read it. What he was looking for was the weight which unfortunately was not stated. So he got somebody's attention and then proceeded to ask what's the weight. The answer?
He was handed the brochure! When he ask again, as yours truly was messing with the next notebook, the assistant answered, "Don't touch that". HUH?
So my brother says, "It's not in the brochure. What's the weight?" He was ignored...
So we walked out...

B) Wasted food.
On the SAME weekend, was at outside waiting patiently and next to us was a bakery. Well known franchise brakery. As it was 2200H, they were closing. Nothing wrong with that. Right? Of course. BUT what pissed me off was that one of their workers proceeded to fill a garbage bag of 5-6 trays of buns of different kinds. Just DUMPING them into the bag. All that WASTED FOOD!!! My ... gosh. Couldn't they have given them away to orphanages or old folks homes, etc??? In the end, the bag was 3/4 full...

Words just fail me...

Skytrex!

This was certainly one heck of an activity. One that looked easy, but in real life, bloody hard! And boy, was I exhausted to the point that I had to quite half way as I was drained out entirely! Thankfully, an exit was available! Anyway, one needs to be somewhat physically fit; at least in your upper body area. And for yours truly, being thalassaemic, this isn't something easy to do...

So what is it? An adventure sports up in the forest, around 30meters high. An obstacle course, high up in the jungle. All that's keeping you up, are the harnesses!

And now, the photo's:

The trails...
Looks very simple right?
Not too high, right?

In good hands...
Classic example of how to firefox...
I'm going up to my treehouse! And oh, it's about 20++ meters up in the air!
From here, all activity is up in the air. So, IF you're terrified of heights, this is soooooooooooooo not what you would want to do.
Hi there!

Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Need I emphasise on heights? :)
This goes, here... that goes that... Safety 1st!
And here we GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
And if you happen to miss your landing and get stuck in the middle, kindly pose for the photographer, please! Thanks Sam!
This activity is all done up in the air. For 2 over hours, you are moving from one platform to another, 20-30 meters up. And all you have is the harnass. Also, this puts a LOT of strain on your biceps, arms and spinal cord. So, you have been warned...

And there's no harm in chickening out. Your health is more important if you find that you just got too tired 1/3 way through. I know I did and I have no regrets... but fun...
